 01  How do I get a library card?

Go to the Main Desk on the first floor of the library and ask for an application. You must present a current driver's license or other valid photo ID. We will also accept a utility bill in your name at that address, or a six month or greater residential lease agreement in your name at that address as proof of residency. There is no charge for a library card for residents within the city limits of Waxahachie.

 

Patrons who live outside the city limits are charged $35.00 per household per year for a library card.

 

Sims Library now offers Temporary Computer Cards for full computer and Internet access to adults 18 and older. Temporary Computer Cards are available for 30 days for $5 or 60 days for $10. You must read the Temporary Computer Card policy and fill out an application in the Reference Department.

 

Sims Library accepts cash or checks. Credit or debit cards are subject to a 2.7% +.30 Fee.

 

 

 

 02  Where is the library located?

Sims Library is located at 515 W. Main Street in Waxahachie, Texas. From Highway 35, take exit 401B (Business 287), go East toward Waxahachie. This street becomes Main in the city limits of Waxahachie, and the library will be on the right side of the road.

 

If you are traveling from the Northside of Waxahachie, you may also take Ferris Avenue/Highway 77 South toward downtown Waxahachie, and turn right onto Main Street. The library will be on your left.

 

 

 

 03  How do I place a hold on an item?

There are three ways to place a hold on an item: By Phone, In Person, or Online. If you call or come into the Library, a staff member will help you reserve the item.

 

To place a hold online, go to the Catalogue, and search for the item. On the left side of the screen is a Place Hold option to click once the record is open. You must then log into your Library account using your library card and pin numbers.

  • Limit 5 items

  • Holds not picked up after five (5) business days will be returned to the shelves.

 

 

 04  Can I renew my items?
 
Beginning October 1st - the end of Construction in 2020, there will be no renewals as the checkout time has been extended for this time.
 

Yes, you can renew most materials one time for three weeks. DVDs can be renewed for one week.

 

There are three ways to renew an item:

  • By Phone

  • In-Person

  • Online

To renew materials online, sign in to your Sims Library account using both your library card and pin numbers. Click on My Account. Here you will find the option to Renew My Materials.

 

 

 

 05 Why can't I check out/place a hold on a new book?

New titles may appear in our catalog before they are available for check out due to technical processing. As soon as they are ready, they will display within our catalog and you will be able to place holds on those new items.
