Suggestions and Feedback

We’re always interested in receiving feedback from our patrons. If you have something you’d like to share about your library experience, whether it’s constructive criticism, praise for something that made you happy, or anything in between, we invite you to let us hear about it. All suggestions are read by the Library Director, and select suggestions are posted on this page accompanied by responses from library staff members. Posted suggestions are kept anonymous.

 

We have received a few requests for particular movies and/or tv series on DVD or Blu-ray. We always want to know how to improve our collection -- books, audiobooks, movies, and more! We will do our best to accommodate these requests, as the budget allows.

"Thanks for offering DVDs for rent. I would like for the limit of movies to be raised from 4 Adult to 10 Adults for patrons. I come to the library on a weekly basis for DVD Rentals. Thanks for consideration of this change in policy for weekly patrons."

 

Hi! Thank you so much for letting us know how you feel. We will talk about raising our limits at our next board meeting. If a change is made to the policy we will post it online and let you know personally. Thank you.

"Other Ellis County citizens cannot get free library access (cards) to check out books."
 

Hello, I am sorry that your library card would not be free. Unfortunately, as a condition of our contracts with the City of Waxahachie, and our Board of Directors only those who live inside the city limits of Waxahachie are eligible for Free Library Cards. However, we do offer out of city cards for $35.00 a year per household. We also offer free access inside the library for anyone who would like to come and read while here. In addition, in each of our departments, we have an honor selection of paperback books that can be checked out without a library card. I hope you feel that you are welcome to come back to our library and I hope that you have a better experience if you do. Thank you for letting us know how you feel, we try and make the library an enjoyable experience in whatever way we can.

Hi, we are glad that you and your children are enjoying the library and the books we offer. The other books in the Mysterious Benedict Society are in the library collection. However, they are separated based on the classification with the Library of Congress. If you would like, the next time you are in the library, you are welcome to ask any of the librarians where to find the books and we would be happy to show you where they are located. Thank you for your feedback.

"In recent years - since your library has been turned upside down - your selection of non-fiction books has been almost non-existent. Almost no additions every time I look. I suggest you tune into C-Span on weekends to see the range of books reviewed and get one or two. Not everyone uses a computer!"

 

Thank you! We always want your honest feedback on all issues concerning the library, especially collection development! As budget allows, we try to update our collections with titles patrons -- like you -- want to check out.

I'm sorry to hear that. If ever you cannot find something in our catalogue, please find a staff member -- or call us, if you're not at the library. We always want to know what the public is interested in and what to provide.

"Mrs. Claspell, I just wanted to take a moment to pass along a compliment for both your facility and staff. We are residents of Waxahachie and had the great pleasure of taking our kids to the Library last Saturday. Our kids had been wanting us to take them to the Library since a girl that watches them occasionally for us had been telling them all about it. They love libraries. Not only do you have a great facility, the staff was outstanding as well. They took great care to help us learn about your facility and get us all set up. Our only problem was convincing our kids that they didn't need to check out ... the entire kids section the first time. Once again, thank you for providing such a great asset to our community!"
