Saturday Program

Tail Waggin' Tutors

Sims Library welcomes the Tail Waggin' Tutors on the second Saturday of every month from 12-1 PM. These special therapy dogs would love for your child to come and read to them. These special tutors will be available during the school year to encourage children in improving their reading skills.

Start your child on the path to success!

It’s open to all children from newborn to five years,
and participation is free!

Pick up your participation folder from the Children’s Desk.

Inside will be your reading log, a bookmark, a coloring page, stickers and a fun pencil.

Track your reading:
Place a sticker for each book you read with your child on your reading record. If paper isn’t your thing, you can download the free 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten app on iTunes and Google Play.

Every book counts:
If your child wants to hear the same book again and again, you can count it each time. You can also count the books your child hears at Library programs, daycare or preschool or with a friend or family member.

1,000 books:
You did it! Come celebrate and receive a bag with prizes, a toy and a coupon for a free treat from a local restaurant.  In August, you will be invited to a big graduation party because you completed the program.

Does it sound hard? If you read just one book at night, you will have read about 365 books in a year; that’s 1095 in just three years. If you read 3 books a night, you can read 1000 books in less than a YEAR!!

Computers

Computers are available in the Buckner Room for children under 13.
The computers are monitored by the filtering program Cyber Sitter.
In order to use the computers, children must have a library card.
