Rules & Guidelines​

This contest is open to ages five and over who live in Ellis County, Texas.

 

Poems must be original and previously unpublished works.

 

One entry per poet.

 

Inappropriate content and/or language will disqualify the poem from the contest.

​

By submitting your poem, you grant permission to publish your work on the Sims Library website, Social Media Sites, and Newsletter.

Please turn in submissions to the front desk or email them to: m.gonzalez@simslib.org.

• The poem must be no longer than two pages typed.

• Number each page of your poem.

• Please title your poem.

• DO NOT WRITE YOUR NAME ANYWHERE ON THE POEM.

• If emailing your submission, the email's subject line should read "Irene Emerson Poetry Contest."

• You must include the title of the poem, the poet's name, age, and contact information in the BODY of the email.

• We will only accept .doc, .docx, and .pdf formats. **
