AARP Tax Help
Beginning in February
Every Thursday, 9:00 - 2 P.M.
- Free to the public
- Must bring all of your documents
- First come, first serve
- AARP does not file for you
Sims Library Homebound Outreach
The service is available to any homebound
person in the city of Waxahachie who has a
library card and a doctor’s statement of
disability, including temporary disabilities
due to injury, surgery, etc. This important
outreach service is made possible by grants
from America’s Farmers Growing
Communities, Waxahachie Foundation,
and Friends of Sims Library.
Friends of Sims Library
Monday, February 27th, Noon
The Friends of Sims Library meet on the last
Monday of each month at Noon in the library
meeting room.
Newcomers are always welcome.
ESL Classes
Mondays, 6:30-8 PM
ESL at Sims Library meets each Monday.
Sandra Coston,
a teacher
of both
Spanish and English as a
second
language,
teaches basic English to
adults
instruction and materials are free
to the public.
Toastmasters
Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 PM
A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing
workshop in which participants hone their
speaking and leadership skills in a
no-pressure atmosphere.
The Toastmasters program offers many
benefits that help people in all walks of life.
As a result of participating in Toastmasters,
you will:
- Increase your self-confidence
- Become a better speaker
- Become a better leader
- Communicate more effectively
Friends of Sims Library
Membership Drive
The Friends of Sims Library invite
Ellis County residents to become members
of the non-profit organization to provide
materials, equipment, and programs that
are not met in the library budget.

Upcoming Events
- Emerson Memorial Poetry Writing Series
- Begins January 17th, 6-7:30 PM
- The annual poetry writing series for adults begins this month. SAGU professors Diane Lewis and Amy George will lead poetry writing workshops on January 17th, February 21st, and March 20th.
- The entries must be received at Sims Library by March 30th. Awards will be presented at the Sims Open Mic Poetry Program on April 17th.
- The top three poets will win cash prizes. Download the Rules and Entry Form.

- First Monday Book Club
- Visitors are welcome to attend the First Monday Book Club in the library meeting room to discuss chosen selections. We would love to have new members.
